Episode 6 :: Quick Vote Question on Losing One's Salvation

Quick Vote Question of the Week: Now for the quick vote, we gave you several options [and]: one of them was on predestination; there’s [also] the use of the anointing oil, and “should a Christian die?” Several questions [including] “can one lose his or her salvation?” And, most of you chose the question [you voted mostly for]: “Can one lose his or her salvation?” You want to know, so I’m going to talk about that now. Very simple answer: yes, it is possible to lose one’s salvation through willful rejection of the Word. Willful rejection of the Word of God and one can lose his salvation.
The bible says for us to stay in Word. You know, Jesus said, “abide in me.”[John 15:4] He told us to abide - to remain - in him, not only to believe but to abide. I want to read to you two major areas that will be helpful to you and the first one is from the book of Hebrews Chapter 6: “For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come. If they shall fall away, to renew them again [ it says it is impossible, if they shall fall away, to renew them again] unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God: But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned. But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak” [Hebrews 6:4-9]. So there are things that accompany salvation, which means that after you have received salvation you are supposed to work according to the light of salvation [and] which is the Word of God. So, willful rejection of the word of God and all the various things that are outlined - the conditions here - must be fulfilled for someone to lose his salvation from what you read from verse 4 all the way to verse 6.
Secondly, there is an example of someone who got into that mess, and I will read to you from 2 Timothy chapter 4 from verse 9: Now Paul writes here to Timothy and says to him, “Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me: For Demas hath forsaken me” [2 Timothy 4:9-10]. Now, Demas was someone who worked closely with Paul. He traveled with Paul. If you read in the book of Philemon and also in Colossians, you would notice the man was mentioned as a co-laborer with Paul. He was one of those who traveled around with him. But now, it says, verse 10: “For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed into Thessalonica:” He loved this world and departed from the ministry; He loved this world. It says, “....Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world,...” .He loved this world.
Now, what is the significance of that? 1st Epistle of St. John Chapter 2, from verse 15; it says, “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever” [1 John 2:15-17]. Did you notice that? It’s the one who does the will of God that abides forever. The one who loves this world cannot abide forever [“The world passeth away and the lust thereof”]. So, Demas had loved this world and this is what John said we must not do. He said, “Love not the world.” He says, “If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” And so, Demas loved this world and forsook the ministry and departed to Thessalonica. He loved this world, so the love of the Father did not abide in him and if that happens, can you conceive of someone who doesn’t have the love of the Father appearing in Heaven? It’s not possible. So, that’s the laws of salvation, and God put that there for us to know it’s possible especially with the other scriptures I read to you earlier.
Conclusion: I am so glad to be able to share the word of God with you. There are so many of your questions coming in, and even if I haven’t answered your question today, if you watch this again and again, the same Spirit that’s communicating with you now about other questions will bring you the thoughts as to what the real answers to your questions are, because that’s the way the Spirit of God ministers. He would take you through the scriptures, and you would learn even much more than we have discussed.
